Maracana Stadium
The Maracana Stadium was the biggest football stadium on earth, and it could fit crowds up to 199,854. But the stadium's glory days are long gone and much of the stadium was closed because much of it was unusable and unsafe, and in 1998, a revamp made the stadium all seater and the capacity droped from 200,000 to 70,000. Although the revamp has saved the Maracana for the mean time, the stadium is gradually falling down and unless millions of pounds is spent on modernization, the stadium will crumble away. |
